Yellowstone National Park - Day 4

Thanks for joining me for the final day of our Yellowstone visit! If you missed the first 3 posts, be sure to go check them out!

We got up just after 4am thinking we would catch the sunrise at the Tetons but that plan flopped. It was super hazy again.

We decided to head back to Yellowstone and see Old Faithful again. As the early morning fog started to burn off, it made for some cool pictures along the way! It was a beautiful morning! I’m glad we got going early even though our plans changed.

We arrived at Old Faithful and watched from a new perspective. It was pretty neat that we had the opportunity to watch eruptions at three different times of the day.

Watching from this new perspective was fun because we were right where all the runoff flows down and into the Firehole River. There were less people on that side as well.

We enjoyed a little souvenir shopping in the lodge before moving on.

We went through Mammoth Hot Springs hoping to make it to Lamar Valley but it was too far of a drive with our camp so far away. (Our campsite was two hours South of the park). We’ll have to return another time.

We enjoyed a few other stops instead.

Sometimes plans change. That’s ok, no matter where you go in Yellowstone, you’ll find beauty!

We got to see the Gibbon Falls on our way up to Mammoth Hot Springs.

We were blessed to see a Momma black bear and two cubs! They were so far away they were just teeny tiny dots to the naked eye. Thankfully I had my 100-400mm lens on hand so we were able to take turns watching them.

We got to visit the Upper Falls from a different perspective on our way back down toward camp. I loved this perspective! It was so beautiful seeing the rainbow the spray of the falls created!

Near the end of the day we ran into a little traffic jam caused by bison. Two of them walked down the road right by our vehicle! Talk about nerve wracking! I’ve seen those videos on-line of bison ramming cars! Thankfully these majestic beasts were simply passing through without incident. Isn’t he incredible! Look at that size and powerful muscle!

We grabbed dinner from a ranch on the way back to camp.

Another successful day full of incredible sights! I would love to go back again some day to explore more of both Yellowstone and the Tetons. Preferably when the Tetons aren’t hiding and it’s not 100 degrees out. I know we only saw the tip of the iceberg!

Thanks again for joining me on this journey. Have you visited these parks before? Where is your dream travel destination?
