Washington DC Trip - Part One

This summer I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Washington DC for a few days with my brother and his family. Of course I have some fun pictures to share with you from my visit!

The first day we arrived in time to catch sunset on the Washington Mall. My Sister-In-Law enjoys photography as well, so we had fun playing around a bit with night photography! It was fun seeing the memorials lit up! Although we realized there is way too much light pollution to see very many stars.

Our hotel was conveniently right next to the Mall so we were able to just walk. I highly recommend finding a hotel nearby so you don’t have to deal with the heavy traffic and trying to find parking.

It is a large area and you will do a LOT of walking! Bring really good shoes with you! We walked several miles a day and everyone had super sore feet, legs and backs! Bring lots of water with you as well! July is hot!

July is a heavy tourist time. I’d like to visit again when there are less people milling about and the weather isn’t so hot. Still, we had a wonderful time and got to see a lot!

I also want to return and go inside the Washington Memorial. I’ve never made it up before and I think a sunset visit from the top would be amazing!

There was a power outage so the Lincoln Memorial and much of the park was dark this first night. The kids were bummed they couldn’t actually see Lincoln because it was too dark. Good thing we had more time to go back another day!

Make sure and stop by again to see the rest of the trip soon! I have a lot more to share!
