Natural Bridge State Park

Memorial Weekend we visited Natural Bridge in Virginia. It’s a pretty neat place!

George Washington surveyed it and later the land was granted to Thomas Jefferson!

It’s a short walk from the Visitor’s Center down stairs and a path to the bridge. You can spot fish in the river alongside.

The bridge is impressive! It’s huge!

There are trees growing out of the rock cliff! The surrounding woods were a lush green.

We decided to continue and do the hike out to Lace Falls. (Cedar Creek Trail). Make sure you have water to drink if you do this!

There is a Monacan Village but it was closed off the day we went.

There is a cave along the way (which you aren’t allowed to explore) but we did see this nesting bird there.

The kids enjoyed spotting a Northern Water Snake and moths along the way. It was a beautiful trail although very muddy in places after the rain.

The trail ends just before Lace Falls. There are benches where you can rest and enjoy the falls before you head back up the trail.

Somehow my son found a Northern Water Snake hiding on the backside of the benches!

The hike back to the Visitor Center is a little more difficult as you are headed back uphill. Our legs were pretty tired by the time we got back!

It was a fun place to visit!
