Natural Bridge Caverns

The Natural Bridge Caverns in Virginia are a very fun place to visit!

The tour we took was easy walking on a path with stairs. No climbing involved (unless something drastic was to happen, then the secondary way out would involve a little climbing.)

There is another entrance to the cave which was where the cave was initially discovered. It does involve tight spaces and climbing and they actually had to gate it last year when some bears decided it was a neat place to hunker down! You can still visit it from the outside by a short walk uphill.

You can also gem and fossil mine while waiting for your tour. We didn’t try that out so I can’t comment on that experience. Just know that it is available.

We enjoyed the hour tour, 34 stories beneath the surface of earth! We had a great guide! He was super knowledgable, full of stories and funny jokes (we had a lot of Dad Jokers in our tour group). Our guide took plenty of time to answer questions and engage with the group.

It was pretty cool down there, literally! Take a jacket!

There were a lot of really neat formations! One of my favorites was T-Rex.

Can you imagine being down there in this tight space during an earthquake? That’s exactly what happened a number of years ago to a tour group! That must’ve been pretty scary and LOUD! (They made it out safely).

This was definitely a place I would visit again someday! It was fun exploring and I received lots of cave “kisses”!
