Blue Ridge Skyline Drive

After visiting Monticello, we had time to drive a small portion of the Blue Ridge Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park. It’s a winding road through the mountains with a slow speed limit due to safety. You do not want to speed and fly off the road there so take your time! (I saw on the news a truck had flown off the road shortly before our visit)!

It’s a beautiful drive with tons of overlook pullouts.

After living at sea level with nothing but flat ground, I was absolutely loving seeing mountains again! I’ve missed them!

These were a beautiful range with layer upon layer of mountains. Everything was so green! The haze does indeed make the mountains appear blue though!

The Appalachian Trail follows much of the Drive as well!

There are plenty of places to stop and hike along the way. We did not as it would be nearing dinner time by the time we drove back to town.

Someday, I would love to visit during sunrise or sunset! I’m sure the golden light kissing the mountains must be glorious! I’d love to see them in the fall with all their colorful glory too!
