Blue Ridge Tunnel

If you are looking for a unique hike in Virginia, the Blue Ridge Tunnel is a fun choice! It’s an old train tunnel that has been turned into a hiking trail. It takes about two hours or so to complete.

It was pouring rain the day we went! We got soaked walking to the tunnel!

Inside was really cool! It’s super dark so be sure to take headlamps or flashlights so you don’t stumble around! Sometimes the path is uneven inside.

You also may want a light jacket or sweatshirt because it is chilly in the tunnel. There are a few areas that drip water as well.

Both edges of the tunnel were full of water. My son spotted this little crawdad hanging out in the water!

There are sections where you can see the carved rock and others that are brick covered. It was interesting seeing all the variations.

We all enjoyed this hike.

Kids think this one is pretty cool!
