Yellowstone National Park - Day 2

Welcome back to our second day at Yellowstone National Park! Our camp was 2 hours away, so we got a pretty morning view of the Tetons on our way back to Yellowstone.

I was excited to see the bison as we drove in! Keep in mind I have a nice long lens to photograph these guys! Never ever approach them! They are huge and won’t hesitate to go after you. It happens every year when someone becomes careless! Enjoy their magnificence from a distance!

A trip to Yellowstone wouldn’t be complete without a visit to view the Falls. We were blessed to view the falls from several angles on this trip! Upper Falls gives you a great overview!

We found a nice trail here that takes you down to Yellowstone River. The swift thundering power of water never ceases to amaze me!

Hiking this area is quite scenic. We found chipmunks and beautiful little butterflies.

We spotted this large fella eating just to the side of the highway as we drove up to Mammoth Hot Springs. The afternoon thunder storms were building and beginning to roll through. As we watched, a loud thunderclap rumbled and startled the bison so bad that he jumped!

We arrived in Mammoth Hot Springs just as the first sprinkles of rain began. Pictured above is Liberty Cap. I always see a man’s face. Do you?

Mammoth Hot Springs is a neat place to visit! There’s a Visitor Center and plenty of places to get food and supplies. There’s even a hotel. It’s an easy walk to see the Lower Terraces. We visited in summer when it was super hot so there wasn’t much flow at the time.

After a little shopping, we drove up and around Upper Terrace Drive. There’s another great little hike up there with a view from above. My son and I were getting nervous as the thunder storms were getting pretty close at this point. I tried to catch the lightening strikes on camera but unfortunately missed them every time.

We found this HUGE footprint up there! Did Bigfoot visit?!? *Joking* I have no idea what made this print but it was BIG.

We headed back to see Old Faithful again! We picked up a yummy dinner at the Lodge. It’s really neat seeing Old Faithful at different times of the day.

Come back for Day 3 when I share a day spent at the Tetons!
