Washington DC Part - Four

Driving to our hotel in Washington DC, my husband took a slight detour to show me the Washington National Cathedral. I’m so glad he stopped and gave me the opportunity to photograph the outside! What incredible architecture!!!

I would love to go back someday and see the inside! I’m sure it’s amazing!

A lot of history happened within those walls. The foundation stone came from a field near Bethlehem! Several Presidents and even Queen Elizabeth II have been there for various reasons. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached there.

Wandering around outside I found this rather unexpected little fact! Apparently somebody with a sense of humor decided Darth Vader needed to be up there! Can you spot him? I couldn’t find him with my eyes when I was there in person, but spotted him in my pictures later.

It’s quite interesting looking all the different grotesques up there!

There was a large 5.8 earthquake in 2011 that cause quite a lot of damage! They’ve made several million dollars worth of repairs thus far but they are still trying to raise funds to complete the restoration!

Enjoy the slideshow of this amazing cathedral!
