Elizabethan Gardens

About a month ago we visited the Elizabethan Gardens. What a beautiful place! The gardens are on Roanoke Island next to Fort Raleigh (which I have yet to explore).

The Gardens are so pretty! One area of it even reminded me of Hawaii!

There’s a nice gift shop and a green house where you can purchase things for your own garden.

They haven’t forgotten about the children either! They created a cute little fairy hunt. Kids can dash all over searching for the next fairy!

You never know what you might find in the next little nook!

There is a fabulous statue of Queen Elizabeth I in the gardens!

There are beautiful blooms year round! The Garden web site even has a page that tells you what is blooming month to month.

The Virginia Dare statue has a fascinating story behind it! You can read all about her on the Garden blog!

There’s a really neat butterfly house on the grounds. We were there at the perfect time to see several monarch butterflies. It was pretty hot and humid inside so my lens fogged up.

If you keep a watchful eye, you’ll see several other butterflies enjoying the gardens!

This is definitely worth your time to go check out!
